| Beth Mellen Harrison completed her first year at Harvard Law School. She is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. She received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, majoring in Political Science. While at Wellesley, Beth served as a volunteer for the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, the Center for Research on Women, and the Massachusetts Democratic Party, and was involved in several student political organizations. Beth also worked part-time for three years for a solo practitioner in Boston, and as a summer intern in the Office of Policy Development at the U.S. Department of Justice. After graduation Beth worked for two years as a Project Analyst with the Boston law firm Mintz Levin. She rotated through different practice areas in the firm, including Litigation, Real Estate, Health Care, and Telecommunications. Beth was a member of the firm's community service committee, and worked on pro bono cases involving political asylum and domestic violence. During her first year at Harvard, Beth participated in two student practice organizations that provide legal assistance to criminal defendants and state prisoners. She also volunteered for Kids in the Court, a program in which law students teach a basic legal education course in local middle schools. Beth is interested in civil rights and criminal justice policy. |
