NAME: Sara Pic

Sara Pic is a third-year student at Northeastern University School of Law. She will be a fellow this summer with the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, working on policy issues related to immigrants' access to health care, education and driver's licenses. She has previously interned at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, where she worked primarily on criminal prosecutions of police brutality, sex trafficking, hate crimes, and abortion clinic violence. She also interned with the Honorable Nancy Gertner, at the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Sara is committed to social justice and public interest law, and has volunteered with Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders on their Legal Hotline, and with the National Immigration Project, working on policy issues related to battered women immigrants. Prior to law school, she worked at Equal Justice Works, assisting with their AmeriCorps programs for public interest law students and lawyers. She also worked as a family planning and needle exchange counselor. Sara graduated from Smith College in 2000 and majored in Women's Studies and Russian Civilization. She also studied abroad in Russia. She is originally from New Orleans and has had a bit of a difficult time adjusting to Massachusetts weather.
