At Oberlin, Adam was Treasurer of the Oberlin Student Cooperative Association, the nation’s second largest student run co-op, where he managed a $1.9M annual operating budget and over $750,000 of socially responsible investments. Adam participated in the Oberlin Initiative in Electoral Politics, a program that provided training in campaigning and electioneering, and prepared him to spend the summer of 2003 in San Francisco as a Field and Media Coordinator for the Tom Ammiano for Mayor Campaign. In the past, Adam has taught puberty classes to fifth graders, HIV prevention to high school students, and sexual health education to college students as part of Oberlin’s Experimental College program. Currently, he is serving a three year term on the Oberlin College Board of Trustees. This summer at the JRI Health Law Institute (www.jri.org), Adam will work on policies to promote greater sensitivity to health concerns of the GLBT community as well as people living with HIV and AIDS. |
