NAME: Adam Sorkin
YEAR: 2005
SCHOOL: Harvard Law School
INTERNSHIP: JRI Health Law Institute

Adam Sorkin is entering his second year of Harvard Law School, where he is Treasurer of Lambda and a member of Harvard Defenders. He was raised in the Chicago suburbs, and graduated with a B.A. from Oberlin College in Economics as well as Environmental Studies. At Oberlin, Adam was Treasurer of the Oberlin Student Cooperative Association, the nation’s second largest student run co-op, where he managed a $1.9M annual operating budget and over $750,000 of socially responsible investments. Adam participated in the Oberlin Initiative in Electoral Politics, a program that provided training in campaigning and electioneering, and prepared him to spend the summer of 2003 in San Francisco as a Field and Media Coordinator for the Tom Ammiano for Mayor Campaign. Currently, he is serving a three year term on the Oberlin College Board of Trustees. This summer at the JRI Health Law Institute (www.jri.org), Adam will work on policies to promote greater sensitivity to health concerns of the GLBT community as well as people living with HIV and AIDS.
